The Beautiful Human Race
November 21st, 2008 by Jeremy
As a forethought of all the things that I expect to write, I’d like the reader to consider that this post is not sarcastic in any way. It is raw thought given only a backspace or two in the name of misspelling.
Look at you! You’re all so beautiful. Listen to the wonderful things you say and the ingenious music you write. Read your fantastic stories and heart-gripping poetry. Witness all the colour and form that you’ve brought to the world and all the paintings and photographs you’ve taken the time to share. Listen to yourself; you want to be understood and are so ready to coexist with new and interesting people who complement or contrast yourself. Can you believe it? Be you creator or observer- you are contributing to our society. Our race. Our world.
As you live your lives, brothers and sisters, know that everything that we have done as individuals combines and becomes part of a single pool. Our combined thoughts, our works, our abilities and efforts would be indiscriminately inseparable if they were ever observed from space or other planes of existence. From an outsider’s point of view, we are all the same- despite our colours, beliefs, personal styles and so on. Think of this the next time you see ants or flies eating of fallen fruit or find yourself in your next public area, be it a restaurant, library, church or club. When viewed as the whole canvas, no matter how many colours or textures or attitudes were used to create the masterpiece, the human race is not just a plethora of different tribes or individuals forced to coexist- we are all one. United. A whole.
In a lot of ways, we lose sight of this in our every day lives- associating with only certain types of people and judging others for their many differences. It is unfortunate that we are taught to hate and discriminate. Even within our own countries, cities, counties and homes- we are taught to find reasons to separate and get caught up in tribal overspecialization. I fully recognize that this happens, but my expectations are so much higher for all of you as individuals- as a whole.
It is my hope that people find reasons to coexist with everyone else. Without hope, life is worthless. Perhaps it’s a good thing that I hope for something that is certainly believable from certain perspectives- but will take a long time to accomplish.
You are all beautiful creatures with whom I am so proud to associate myself. Every one of you, for so many different reasons… but the biggest one I see is this- It is the way we are meant to be.
