The Graelynisse
This is the lore surrounding the people that I would classify as my Elven Race. They were the first to exist in the Mirror Earth world.
The Account of Fe -
Every time my foot felt the first cold step onto the abysmal black marble tiles leading into that hallway, I would become a catatonic zombie. my neck muscles clenched at the back of my neck, forcing my eyes from my feet to the ceiling, like the slow retching of a death spasm. This cavern was built for the juggernaut of the giant stone golems of Cetmana, it seemed to me in my involuntary cocktail of amazement and paralyzing fear. The Humagamants lined the charcoal colored walls, frozen in stone by their own fear of what once lumbered so lordly down this corridor. Each face was different in it’s own morbid gasping, teeth perfect in some screaming mouths, others, chipped or missing in others. Passing through this devil’s yawning gullet was timely and erratic, studiously sympathizing with each terrified figure, touching their hands to attempt consoling the rigor mortis… perhaps only to let them fall limp to the hermetic floors. Maybe then, these souls would find peace, even in Di’Fet, which makes hell look like The WiseWood’s yearly faire.
My form felt torn after being released from this grip of the Undead. One would expect i would be accustomed to it now, especially because I walk this hall every other day. Only twice had I been with someone else. Fluidly, they would continue their unknowingly heroic gant ahead of me, until they would realize that I was incoherently solid and near falling over in horror. They lent a hand and held me while I fought my own ghostly countenance away from me. Consoling me, trying to get me to come to… what else could Gentlegrae do for a stricken girl as this? Even while I explained my feelings for this hall, neither Grae could wholeheartedly understand my convictions…
I’m not sick.
I haven’t even reached my prime yet.
Moments after my fingertips left the last reaching hand, a Sagic Apprentice frolicked mindlessly behind me with one hand in the air demanding my attention. Nothing epic of this barely fleshed bone rack of a child, just mindless of the monsters within the lair.
“Graestress Fe!” he nearly reached me and fell to his knees in a skidding halt. “Graestress Fe, Blessing be to the Family of Grindstone!”
“Rise, Sageling. What bring you in such urgency?” I found the greeting near comical.
“I regret to be the informant of this tragedy, but the Families of Banneh and Mentadt have fallen in their entirety, save one. She wishes you to be with her.”
It was my turn to fall to my knees. “Who might I see into the Myne?”
“Insus.”
The Account of Enila -
About five years ago, Nicturi the Lone was seen every day, walking the streets of Nyahna with her smile casting a heavenly glow upon the face of her dear firstborn daughter, Enila. The city was awash of the news of this child’s arrival into Mynereth and all who witnessed the glory of this child’s presence were stained with an unforgettable joy that would last for weeks! soon, Nicturi’s home was constantly buzzing with company bringing gifts and blessing to the child. Though all children were honoured patrons of Nyahna, Enila was practically worshiped. Rumors spread that she was the new embodiment of Naturisse, come to tithe Mynereth with such a divine beauty, lost to all but Graelynisse lore. The excitement continued until one cursed day, the House of Rendertaff burst aflame, brutally murdering all who lived inside.. barely excepting Nicturi. The now childless widow was found wading through the ashes and embers of her smoldering home, sifting for her baby. No remains of Enila were found, though those of her husband, Olin, were recovered and buried.
After four years, Nicturi remarried to Tyerdel of Crell and bore five children for him, but she did not allow them to be sought out by curious eyes. Still dispassioned by the loss of Enila, she removed the children out of Tyerdel’s hands and left them to be cared for by Elphid, her younger sister. While her new husband stayed in Crell, Nicturi arrived back in Nyahna without his knowing to sleep near the ruins of her condemed home. While some see her there, they dare not approach her to offer help, save one concerned Graelynisse.
Rumors once again spread like wildfire in the city of Nyahna about Enila the Lost. It is supposed that Nicturi was visited by her daughter’s spirit and waits there in case Enila returned. This time, the rumors were defaming of Nicturi, filed with one skepticism… “Has she finally broken?”
The Blackforest War -
One great lash wrought from Heaven’s mighty Whip
And gouged Mynereth with acid and flame.
Henceforth, despite the awesome defiance,
For many a Tyrod calf,, the end quickly came.
Why did Iber scar the Myne to bring much death?
Twas Tyrion’s era to sacrifice, but not it’s will.
They wished to keep their numbers in Mynereth
And for this Mutiny they pay with flesh still.
Perhaps it was Iber’s love for Naturisse
And his sympathy for her people’s constant slay
That employed the benign wrath of his Iron Lash
Which forges Tyrion demise to this very day.
The Blackforest War was a very short lived massacre. It was the Tyrion Herding that christened it as a war at all, due to all the preparation that was invested into their treason. This was the first defiance to take place that was exhibited to demand the direct charge of the Order of Mynereth. Every year, the Myne would be given the acceptable sustenance of blood from the next Great civilization as ordained by the Gods themselves. This sacrifice is called “Shadamyne”. The balance was high-priority to those who lived in the Heavens and was important enough to enforce aggressively. Tyrion Winter came and went with no sacrifice made. When investigated by the Order, they discovered that the Herding had shrouded their great army in hibernation within the mountainside north east of Tyrion. When the Gods were making their demands for Tyrod sacrifice unavoidable, the people would slay the Bovine herds they’d captured the previous season and pour human blood into the ashes of their sacrifice, confusing Mun’kell the Collector to come down and gather the corpses. Upon the Collector’s appearance, they would employ their highest Sages to capture the unknowing Mun’kell with a large crystal buried below the alter of Tyrion. When the collector did not return to the Palace in the Sky, the Tyrod Hierarchy would bribe the Gods with Muk’kell in exchange for asylum to Shadamyne. When the trade was executed, they would immediately wage war on the Mynatine people, lead by Naturisse Gana. The plot was foiled by a spy, Ghier the Unseen, sent down by the Gods to keep a closer eye on the Tyrod Herding. When the spy returned with the news, He went directly to Iber the Pure. It isn’t known what demanded the outrage more, the Balance or the trouble Naturisse was in. Thus, Iber carved a gash into Mynereth, from Tyrion to the mountainside that contained its great army. In one fell strike, the blood of the Tyrod people formed the Fetid Vein, which spilled into the valleys with mighty force. All but few of the Tyrod Herding was slain, and those that remained alive would be charged to disclose their fatal transgressions to the rest of Mynereth.
Battle of Toltanthis -
Keldertor was the seventeenth child born of Lyenthill, accompanied into the world with Immenia the Vine. It is said that upon this particular return of Yoreth to imbue Lyenthill with child, he became curious of the Fetid Vein, which still flowed even after more than twenty years following the Blackforest War. It was the same night that she had conceived that the Seasonstruck Husband had accidentally fallen into the river of Tyrod blood. The rumor still lives that the treacherous red was sown into his seed. Yoreth died in the summer of that Aunnei and brought an early Winter to the land.
When Keldertor came of age to be brought before the Great White Tree, a leaf did not fall for him, compelling the Sagic Order to exile him from Nyahna. Death came to Immenia that same night, being the second Graelynisse to die, including the Mother of Nyahna. Keldertor was not seen for the following forty two years, until he inflicted a blight to his exilers. Disease consumed the people and ravaged them for two seasons. When the Traitor returned, he promised to deliver a cure to those who followed him. More than two-hundred begged for allegiance, denouncing their followership to Iber and Nyahna. Upon the departure of the Inflicted, the majority remainder of the citizens were relieved of the Blight completely. Suffering from that moment only came to them in the Winter with the low quantities of harvest, forcing the Graelynisse to hunt during the Dying season.
As for the droves in Keldertor’s service, the afflictions continued. He only removed the pain that was accompanied by the disease. Over time, the features of the Inflicted people changed and their strengths were deranged, making them more prone to cause great evils to the area of their exile. It was their hands that labored to create the Cet Fortress, which would be destroyed in the Graelynisse’ first war, which came to be known as the “Battle of Toltanthis”.
Toltanthis was an esteemed adviser in Keldertor’s League that eventually assassinated the Traitor of Nyahna, but only after the War was waged. Being a second generation “Venom Elf”, the decay associated with Keldertor’s Blight had never affected Toltanthis, but had given him the malformations and the strengths it produced in the Inflicted. The argument as to why he did this was that he was the only “Non-Inflicted” among the people he created…furthermore, he may fold when it came time to fight his homeland. The evidence: the people of Nyahna were relieved of the Blight immediately… and without the severity that the people of Cet had endured. While being the creator of the Venom Elves, Keldertor was not one of them. Henceforth, it became a law in Cet that any Graelynisse found in the territory was to be slain, even if they were there as traitors to Nyahna.
Though the fortress of Cet was destroyed in the Battle of Toltanthis, Toltanthis and his people endured little casualty and evaded the Graelynisse. They now inhabit Cetmana, which is far southwest of Nyahna.

Tayne’s Tale -
Tayne was the human’s version of Loki in living flesh.. He was dubbed the Fel when he came of age, because the Grae he interacted with were unsure to find him evil or sarcastic. alas, Tayne was not unapproachable, but a prankster he was. fourtunately, not only for him but also the elders of Nyahna, he respected those that surpassed his years greatly… most of his folly was unleashed on those his age or younger, especially his twin sister Nicturi.
There were tales of Tayne’s greatest conquest for nearly a decade after Nicturi fell into his trap. It started off quite obvious, as though there was no grand scheme, but grand it was in his plan’s completion!
Nicturi was away with Lyenthil for a week to celebrate her coming of age when the Blight came to the Graelynisse. Without fear or conviction did Tayne open a snare, telling many of his brothers that Nicturi had vanished with the Hegeset Minions and was supposed to be the second plague on Nyahna. Upon her arrival, many of the citizens, infected and not, avoided Nicturi until they saw she was without blemish or bruise. Welcomed back and retuned to the fold, Nicturi was only mildly upset with her twin… assuming that was the end of his ploy. Met with this lack of a climax to his prank, he departed alone not a day later and gathered Flayspore Sacs and large skins of tree bark and stowed them beneath his bed. That night, he disguised himself as one of the minions and placed the exploding sporepods round her own sleeping place. Nicturi was awakened with one of the Flayspores thrown at her, which burst into a neon green cloud, staining her skin with the luminscent powder. In a panic, she flailed about and fell onto the remaining sacs. Before the skirmish was over, the whole of the house was thick with the spore clouds. Then she noticed the minion looming in the shadows and bolted out of the house into the streets screaming incoherently. Nearly the whole of Nyahna awoke to the noise of her deafening cries. Tayne discarded the wood suit immediately and ran out from back of the house, pretending to be in shock. Armed citizens raided the house of Renderstaff once Nicturi and Tayne gave their shocking accounts of the Minion within. Finding nothing, the raid party spread to the outskirts of Nyahna with the speed of a forest fire in the Burning Season. Still without aquiring the Hegeset, the angered people returned to the city and raised a guard for the night. Only a week prior, the Grae had captured and slain three of the intruders. The fact that there were more unaccounted for greatly disturbed the city.
it wasnt until well into the fifth generation of Graelynisse that Tayne the Fel came clean with his sister, who was well beyond the shock of that night. Her only retaliation was the coining of a ‘faerie’s poem ‘ to keep young Graes on their toes:
This fable tells of Tayne the Fel.
Check the bed before Moon’s Last Bell
Heed not this account of warning lore
And wake covered in Hegeset Spore!
Beware the students of Tayne the Fel
And their mischief too dark to tell!
If one be your brother, train a pet
to foil your brother, the Hegeset!
