All with Pride…

July 31st, 2010 by Jeremy

I feel like my pride is the curtain drawn over 3 inches of plate glass… displayed behind which is my frightened, drowning form. I’ve had no serious clients. I’m two months behind on almost all my bills. Last day of the month and I have no idea how I’ll be paying my rent. I go out and slowly spend what remains of my cash to make new friends and potential clients, yet the only people who call are my debtors. I’m hungry.

My nose is pressed against the top of the box that holds within my last breaths of air. I’m hidden… invisibly and desperately beating on the glass of a container I thought was big enough. All with Pride.

I got myself here. I could have done better. Life is a series of choices, right? Only I am held accountable for my actions and must therefore accept the fruits of my labor. With Pride.

I know that no one wants to hear about my failure. That’s why the air that remains in this water tank is so sweet. It’s far too precious to be exhausted with screaming. So I suffer with Pride.

I have nothing of value. No savings. No assets. I knew that this enclosure of mine would fill as it is now. Yet, I refuse to call myself stupid for going about it the way I did. My Business. I refuse to think it was all a mistake. I have no one else on whom I can depend, so if I drown, it will be with Pride.

Private vs Public Tyranny

June 11th, 2010 by Jeremy

This is a response to a comment to the aforementioned post made by Shawn, an author on PhilosophyBlog.com:

There is no such thing as Private Tyranny. The term “Private” refers to the “private sector”, or the group of people whose financial income and spendings are done so outside of Government programs or businesses- excluding taxes. The private sector includes all civilians, their property and all businesses that are not owned or subsidized by the Government. The money made in the private sector is represented by the Free Market, and is done so via a system called Capitalism.

The Free Market is made possible by the ‘privatization’ of currency. In other words, America and its wealth is fueled by the inventions and ideas of Her People. The Civilian Base, therefore decides the fate of businesses based on the desire for that business’ product. This is called “Demand”. Capitalism is the code that allows civilians to  start their own businesses and sell their products and services at a price that is determined by the Free Market’s Demand for that product. If the inventor is the sole distributor of his product, he creates Demand by offering it as a novelty or an alternative to a different product. If the price that the Free Market is willing to pay for the product is below the cost to make it, the business under which the inventor operates cannot make “Profits”, or personal return for the product being offered, and so goes out of business. If the business profits from the product, its doors stay open for as long as there is a demand for the product. Therefore, to define the Free Market’s term “Competition”, the business must both continue to generate demand for its product; either by advertising it as the best of its kind or using innovation to ensure that the features of the product best fit the demands made by the Free Market. If the buyer decides that the Competition offers a better product, the original business closes its doors. As the buyer thus determines whether or not a business keeps generating money, a Private Tyranny is not truly possible under the rules of Capitalism.

However, Public Tyranny is always possible. The term “Public” refers to the “Public Sector”, which includes all assets (businesses, land and services) that are procured by the Government via the tax dollars it receives from the civilians it governs. Public Sector Businesses, like the United States Postal Service, do not follow the laws of Capitalism; nor is it able to be controlled by the Free Market’s demands for its product. Every dollar that is spent by the Government is paid for by the Civilian Base. Thus, through the Government, the civilians keep the doors to the United States Postal Service open and, furthermore, the civilians pay the salaries of the employees working there. Even if no one went to the USPS for their mail delivery services, the business would not close. Furthermore, all businesses owned by the Government are not subject to compete with the businesses found in the Private Sector. If all other mail services went out of business, the USPS would essentially be a monopoly.  It is because of this lack of control that the civilian base has on this kind of business that Public Tyranny is possible.

One may bring up Monopolies and Scams. Both of these are illegal and should be dealt with individually, as determined by the losses these create in the Free Market. The Free Market itself should not be punished for the unlawful acts of but a handful of businesses- because if the Free Market is being punished, so are you.

Via the Free Market, American Citizens are given the power to live and sustain themselves outside of the means of Government Provisions (which are paid for by the Citizens anyways).  If you are buying from a business that needs your purchase of its product to survive, you are most likely buying a good product. By buying from the Government, you are getting the absolute minimum that product can offer- as that business has no fear of ever having to close its doors. In the simplest terms I can afford, you are are buying Quality when you are buying from the Private Sector. Additionally, the Founding Fathers never intended for Federal Government to be involved in business, as this directly correlates with their intention to build a Government that fears and serves the People. As Government seeks to become involved in Business, the true intent is to create more dependence on the Government

What throws a wrench into the gears is when businesses seek unethical means to produce its products, such as having them produced in the less than acceptable work environments found in China and India. Public Tyranny supports this practice, as businesses, which make a product in America and pay its workers at least minimum wage, produce a product that is more expensive than unethical competition. By furthering and endorsing the demand for a cheaper product, Public Tyranny places ethical businesses at risk of having to close their doors. It does this by failing to levy taxes and strict regulations for businesses that buy from or produce products in Socialist countries. The ultimate goal of this practice is to force the civilian to buy from Government businesses while simultaneously obliterating the ‘middle class’. That makes government officials The Wealthy.

Gerald Ford is credited as saying:

“A government big enough to supply you with everything you need, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have….”

I hope that I answered your question, though I encourage you to feel free to challenge this information via research.

I Might Do Something Stupid

May 28th, 2010 by Jeremy

History: More than a year ago, I read “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill for the first time. By the time I got to chapter three, I knew that I had to start a business and make goals to measure its success. Though I don’t know where in the book I was, on January 15, 2009, I filed the Articles of Incorporation for my company with the state. In almost every matter since, I let that book guide me. It is to this that I accredit my present successes, though I haven’t come even close to achieving my first goal.

Why?

My day job, according to my instincts. I’ve held this thought for some time, knowing that I can make what I earn in one week with only one or two design fees. But it’s the stability; the guaranteed weekly sum of over 40 hours of work that keeps me employed.

Yesterday

I began reading “The 4 Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferriss. I’m close to finishing Chapter Four, and am ready to take action to recover 8 hours of my day which are currently spoken for. 40 hours a week that I could use to get on top of my debts, financial obligations and the costs of my dreams.

Here’s the scenario. In two weeks from Monday, I will have quit my day job. Because I now live 16 hour days, I will find no clients and receive no work from the businesses I currently serve. I will exhaust my financial reserves within two weeks time and lose power in my apartment in three. I will get my eviction notice on July 3rd, 2010 and lose my Jeep the following week due to repossession. In this time, my credit will score ZERO, the lowest credit any man has ever achieved. Thus, with only the possessions that I can carry on my back, I will walk many miles to Derek’s house in Marietta, provided that I don’t die of hunger, starvation, due to a wild animal attack, or by the impact of a semi truck along the way. Once there, I will ask him if I can sleep on his couch; to which request he will refuse because of the added population of girls that Craig picked up the previous weekend. At that time, I will be so hungry that I will willfully eat the meat of my left arm and die of bloodloss.

Yet before I take the first bite, something magical would happen. An alien would come from the heavens and, using hyper-telepathy, would tell me that my business partner got the lease on the new office in Buckhead. Though I would have no strength to walk twice the distance to Buckhead, as compared to the distance from here to Marietta, I would somehow make it to that office. I would be working again; facilitated with all the tools I would need to contact clients and have them come to the office for consultations which would lead to design fees. I would have access to my email accounts and website again, which have nine or ten jobs from my business clients waiting for me. At night, I could sleep under my desk. In a matter of two weeks, I could afford another apartment and the deposits on my utilities. So wait… two weeks after all that? Could I really have my life in order in only two weeks? Do I really need the office to do that? Really- what is the likelihood of my worst-case scenario truly taking place?

Instead of waiting for my electricity to get turned off, I could spend 40 hours a week looking for new clients and promoting my services. The days won’t get shorter if I quit my day job. I just need to take that dive. Will it truly be worth it if I am dedicated to the task of finding those treasured few who recognize the innate nature of adorning oneself with jewelry that they find valuable- even in the midst of an economic crisis?

I will give myself the weekend to reflect on this matter. After which, I should have the balls to hand in my two-weeks notice.

A Letter to Hiep

February 11th, 2010 by Jeremy

There are many problems in the world, but I feel that it all stems back to one thing- our lack of connectivity with the rest of society. Connectivity is exhibited in every other being on Earth. Sure, we have our friends and our coworkers, but we always have our own agendas. We, as humans, are greedy with our time and are unwilling to fully connect with anything. One of our biggest ’sins’, in my opinion, is our ability to keep secrets. If any other lifeform here on this planet had such a selfish regard for life, it would be completely out of balance. Think of anything with a colony- Bees, ants, lions, fish, birds… and through in the idea that they all had secret agendas. Right there… at that moment- the balance would be disrupted. It is in their harmony and willingness to work together that they survive. Breaking away from that method of living would bring about chaos and destruction to the natural order of things.

At one time, I think that humans actually had it figured out. We were connected through-and-through. Our minds were One. We were truly a series of societies. I think about this all the time- why is it that our brains are so little used? Why are we so hungry… or greedy? Why is it that one of the things we long for the most is a connection with someone else- someone who understands us? I feel that ALL of these things are connected to the same problem. When a purpose arises that people have to stand as one and solve an issue that threatens our survival or rights, they do it naturally. We know that there are powers in numbers- yet in our day-to-day lives, we live as a singular entity and do things without fully knowing why.

This disease is ages old. Many generations before us have continued this trend, blindly becoming more and more selfish and singular… taking their offspring further away from the singularly most important birthright away from us… our connection to society at the mental level. Even if one or two people figure this out and open themselves to the idea, each passionately connecting themselves to the Higher Mind, they would all find a void. A ghost town. It’s like every movie you’ve seen in which there are entire cities that are completely desolate of activity and life. One feels as though they are the only person on Earth.

So this is our problem. It’s the poetic division of Humanity. Because everyone feels as though we are separate from everyone else, crimes take place. Marriages die. Some people become poor. Others go insane. Everyone looks for their purpose for all of their lives- even when it’s staring them in the face the entire time. We are all unsatisfied. Empty. Scared. Abandoned. Alone.

It is because of this that I become more and more determined every day to do what I’m doing. My company, Rayne Nouvelle, is my model for New Business and an example of my belief system. Let me explain this.

It is a human characteristic to see human qualities in almost everything. We see faces in wood. Emotions in our pets. Warmth in a home. Design in the Universe. This is called Anthropomorphism. These days, businesses have become more and more mechanical and much more inefficient. They advertise their products, trying to get people to buy, buy, buy. Meanwhile, there’s the home office: customer service reps, managers, shipping, and so on. Each person is expected to contribute to other departments and to work overtime. Many businesses feel that following such a method is effective for the flow of money through the company. I feel that this is wrong. Many feel that organization is the law and that systems for dealing with customers are correct. WRONG! Businesses are becoming like shape-shifting clocks- in which the gears are also pendulums and sometimes help by actually telling the observer what time it is. WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

Everyone has a series of strengths and weaknesses. The entities of the Human body are the same. The heart cannot walk for the body. The stomach won’t ever fall in love and the feet will never see. If a part of the body isn’t being used, it rests. Again, there’s that harmony. Every part of the body is essential for the life of the whole. There is no question about the function of the heart, stomach and feet. It is plainly evident how each part contributes to the body. I want to design a business in THAT model. It will be because of this that each of my employees will feel a sense of purpose and happily perform their tasks for the good of the business and the betterment of self.

In a sense, I have recognized a need exhibited by the human race. In response, I will do my best to bring back connectivity by giving them an example of how it works. By using the strengths and weaknesses made evident in each of the people in my life, I am condoning the return to ‘the way things should be’. It is for this that I will be remembered when I am gone. Yet- it is not just in business that I plan to do this.

By thinking about all the things that I have found to be self-evident in my life, I have invented a bright light that exposes most things for what they are- in most aspects of my life. Another example.

Family. Having made the virtue of human connectivity my primary moral compass, I have decided that it is in my best interest to learn as much as I can about how it works and what one can get from it. For every day that I remain open to receive and make attempts to contribute, my connection with the ‘vacant world’ becomes stronger. I am dedicated to the idea of sharing this wholeheartedly with the woman with whom I will eventually marry and bear children. The most important part of my children’s rousing is the encouragement of the instinctual desire to connect and the utilization of this connection. Through this endeavor, as well as that of my business, I would begin to rehabilitate the Human Hive Consciousness.

There is something else that plays a role in this effort- the war between the Self and the Ego. The Self is everything with which we come into this world. We innately know the difference between right and wrong. We know what our strengths are. We each know what we can and cannot do. It is the discipling of the Self that makes a virtuous person. Then there is the Ego. It is a manifestation of our Separateness from the rest of the world. It is the false sense of individuality and selfish agendas. By analyzing the Self and the Ego side-by-side, we come to realize that a person who lives by the virtues of the Self will naturally contribute good things to the Human Race. Those that embrace the Ego will only further destroy our True Humanity. Don’t get me wrong- individuality is essential- as is the knowing of yourself and who you are. Yet, the worship and mercenary homage to one’s own individuality will almost always cause harm.

You might think that I’m crazy as you read this. You might think it makes sense. As I’m writing this, I cannot begin to guess how you will react to my freely flowing tsunami of personal morals. I guess I just hope that you find it interesting… and, on a more personal level, perhaps you will gain a sense of belonging in my thoughts.

Thought of the Day

August 13th, 2009 by Jeremy

“A man who is truly wealthy will own an apple tree that produces oranges and grapes as well.”

This is the fruit born of the thoughts which have me excited to move forward in my earnest attempt to create wealth for myself. When I am on my deathbed, I aim to say the phrase above and mean it to outlast the lives of my yet unborn grandchildren. I do not care if my name is attached to it as much as its meaning should retain its fertility. I do promise that the whole of the world will know when I own such a tree.

I am ecstatic at the moment! I am filled with the burning desire to enrich others with my services- be they the product of my company or that which is offered sincerely during my relations with others. I promise nothing but the best to those people I know now and those I will meet in the future. I promise to be discerning at every step of my personal growth and the growth of my company in the effort of attaining and preserving that which has nothing but the product which has my most sincere and honest conviction saturated in its very makeup. I promise this very day to perform all tasks with the best outcome in mind. I promise to make a service of each encounter which promotes the enriching of its recipient. It is through this earnest and most sincere service to the whole of mankind that I am to achieve that which I have defined as Personal Wealth.

As far as my company, Rayne Nouvelle, and those which follow the success of the current, I promise the following:

  • I promise to seek the best services which will aid in the rendering of my product.
  • I promise that I will hire people who are looking for true self-fulfillment, which will be invested in the interest of cultivating that desire in abundance.
  • I promise that I will not reduce the quality of my product in the interests of cost efficiency.

I believe that I have recognized my demographic as being the very people who have not forgotten the true nature of Value. People who have the strongest morals and convictions. People who have worked too hard to accept a substitute. People who know the true and personal meaning of investments. People who carry with them the greatest kind of pride which brings forth the fruits of their success in abundance. It is for them that I promise my best so that they may receive goods and services which equal the value of that which they seek. It is for them that I promise to nurture and bring forth companies that produce those goods and services.

Despite my willingness to serve others to the degree which I firmly promise from this day forth, it is for myself and my legacy- my pride- that I make these promises. It is this very pride and burning desire that will make me aggressive in the attaining of this goal here forth.

I go now with my resolve and my inspiration to create that which will help me enrich others and further enrich myself.

May I Reflect You.

My Teacher,

Thank you for inspiring me. As I make real the message that you have left behind in my own life, I pray that I may inspire others as you have inspired me.

What I would do with $2,000,000.

July 26th, 2009 by Jeremy

I would create three companies.

There are three facets of humanity that I wish to address, all of which take into consideration the importance of human happiness. Each of these companies will address one singularly and in such a way that makes its investment effective for both the company and its patrons.

The first is a company which I have already formed. Rayne Nouvelle, a company entirely dedicated to creating client-inspired jewelry, accessories and connoisseur collectibles, it caters to a person’s aesthetic side. Each and every one of us should be able to express ourselves aesthetically without having to endure a constant barrage of advertising telling them what they want. I am of the opinion that most people will forgo the buying of jewelry to any great extent during some phases and trends which fashion takes unto itself. I recognize a seriously lacking care for what people really want in a specific manner as jewelry companies have placed importance on the simple act of owning jewelry. While there are so many items which span over many different styles within the inventories of these companies, there is still the issue of supply and demand. Of those pieces which best fit their client’s particular tastes, which of those pieces really express what they really want to express? Clients should be able to go to a location or website and order what they want comprehensively; without being drowned in all kinds of processes or miscellaneous advertisement from other facets of the company.  Beyond a list of things which they can order from, the service would be all-encompassing and limitless. Any pieces created in the designer’s collections would be there simply to inspire the client and to tell them of what the company from which they are ordering is capable.

The second is an Irish-style Public House and Tavern called ‘Boadicea’(bo-ahdee’-seeuh), which is dedicated to the human need to be social. Inspired by County Clare of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, The Irish hospitality throughout the whole of The Boadicea Public House would be law. Not only will each client be afforded familiarity and personal contact from the bartenders and wait-staff, but the staff themselves will be encouraged to act personably and sincerely towards clients. While Irish cuisine and beverages are among the main products that Boadicea has to offer, it is the environment itself which will promote the gathering of upper-middle class to high class patrons at the pub. Additionally, there will be a 40 room tavern above the main social areas which will be heavily promoted through traveling agencies providing services to and from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England. This is to maximize the opportunity for Americans to be among those from the UK in a friendly, warm atmosphere and to further stimulate an interest in travel to the UK.

Finally, I would put into affect a business specifically designed to generate low-cost consultation for businesses in trouble, those which are in ’start-up’ mode , professionals who need to run ideas off of someone or managers who want to improve their leadership skills. Those found under the employ of this business would be volunteers asked for their assistence “if the service helped them with their business”. Not only does the volunteer have the opportunity to make their money back, the experience would be considered ‘continuing education’ in the resulting extention of the flow of ideas.  The object of the business is to create and institute ideas among business professionals as well as potentially establish dependable networks between professionals and businesses. Volunteers may stay as long as they want. Those seeking the services of this organization may do so perpetually. Those who fall in love with the idea of this business may become members and further help it grow. The company would be called the ‘AFM Organization’.

I have other company ideas as well, yet the aforementioned are those I wish to pursue.

Capitalism

July 19th, 2009 by Jeremy

Sorcerer and Capitalist, an Entrepreneur is one alike a messiah who is able to transform any situation into one that profits not only himself, but also those around him. He is the creator of riches and the disseminator of poverty for those even indirectly involved with him or his circles of influence. It is no wonder why those who are within the range of the Socialist Scent want him confused, unfocused, medicated, uneducated and even dead. For socialists who demand the center stage of the New Market, the Entrepreneur is the master who constantly defiles the constricting plans to enforce file and control over both the worker and the buyer. As the socialist gains power, his plans to control even the entrepreneur also strengthen. The upcoming regime of power will come to call him a treasonous heretic and jail him for his power to disprove the new systems’ seemingly infallible state of being.

The questions concerning the necessity of the entrepreneur’s existence are dwindling to a halt as even those in the highest seats of power curse him with the responsibility of the current state of the economy. It is no wonder that the population believes these lies; as the common citizen of America is somehow leveled to being one of many in a state of poverty and government control. They have lost their jobs and all hope of finding others. The People are influenced to depend on government programs like welfare and assisted living while taxes to fund such programs are forced upon the shoulders of those still bearing the right to work for their living. Jealousy is injected like a poison into the jugular vein of society as they are told of those who have somehow manipulated the stock market into crashing. These money-hungry numbers responsible for this rift which siphons the rest of society’s capital worth are referred to as Capitalists; when such a label could not be further from the truth! This propaganda has caused an insane followership of those in like situations of destitution, diverting the focus of the riots to those who still have the power to generate money.

As this stranglehold takes effect and the black spots occur in the general population’s vision, two things are allowed to happen. The government receives praise for keeping the dying businesses alive while keeping this money-hording ‘capitalists’ from creating new businesses. The bigger picture comes more into focus for those who have refused to become blinded by these false heroics taken on by the government and the corporate giants: As the Socialist Empire of America spans the division between the insanely rich and the powerlessly impoverished, the Entrepreneur is hunted down and slandered in public because of the power he claims to have which may very well turn this abjection back into opportunity.

If this is the truth, why have so many people become subscribed to it? We, the People, are taught powerlessness in every facet of our lives; from employment to religion, through all forms of media. We are given stories that retain more and more consistency which seem to prove the immoveable nature of our dire situation. It continues to spiral further and further out of control, despite our efforts and hopes to turn it all around. We are subdued into caring about the war, our increasing gas prices, the carbon-dioxide output of our industries, the terrible interrogation techniques happening in Guantanamo and even the failures of the previous president. In our most anguished moments, we have turned to that one entity that seems to know what its doing. The Government, which has more than enough caring people to take on these challenges while we wrestle to regain control of our own lives, is given more and more power to resolve these issues for us. The tone of this granting of power is however indifferent; provided in a tone which sounds a lot like, “Yeah, whatever you need to put things back in order…”

Shame is upon us for allowing the government to openly siphon our bleeding hearts as it creates the oppression it needs to have our permission! The task to regenerate our economy and to further improve our standard of living is not for the government to take on. There are people among us who are specifically outfitted to deal with these situations. Trust in your fellow citizens to breathe life back into our markets, so that you may maintain the ability to buy nice things and create for your selves the lives that you all personally desire. Among them, you will find the Entrepreneur; those who will create your jobs and finer products. It is they that dream of a greater, more prosperous tomorrow. Do what it takes for them to find their way in control of the market once more. By your doing this, we Entrepreneurs promise to give your lives back.
